Question Paralegal VAs a dying breed?
Just curious since I noticed the last post in this category was a month ago...while all the other categories are current.

Is the paralegal niche a dying art or are they just too busy to visit the forums?

Just too busy, I think. I have one 'legal' client who would LOVE to have me for more hours than I am available for him.

I agree with Lily. Definitely too busy. My best lawyer client has more work for me than I have available hours and I stopped canvassing for new clients several years ago.

Hmmm, well I'm not as busy as the other two posters - I could use another client or two! But I am pretty busy and I think it's a bad tendency, on my part, to not stop by here as often now that I am at least well established and busy running my business. I love this site, and found it invaluable at startup, so I'm trying to come by again more often to help newbies (and whoever else!)

Add the forum to your feedreader so you receive all new posts. It saves a ton of time. The US in general seems more open to outsourcing but many are going offshore, outsourcing to other lawyers and staff alike, for cheap rates. I find Canadian lawyers are still quite leery of it especially outside the major cities. Having worked with lawyers (and finding the work very boring) for more than 25 years I prefer to work with business and industry people these days.

I don't think it's dying. It is just within the last couple of years begun to catch on! I have as many lawyers as I care to work with at the present. I do check for new posts in this section, but if there aren't any, and I don't have anything new to add, I move to other sections. For me, much as I love the forum, it is for when I am not actually working, like now, I'm reading while having lunch.

Re: Paralegal VAs a dying breed?
I am new to the forum, and i admit this is my favorite section. I hope to start my business soon, and soon after that focus on this niche.
I will start taking paralegal classes next month. Even though i have no experience in a legal office, i am very interested in this field.

In my research i have noticed there is a huge need for Paralegals, i don't think this niche is even close to dying.

Hey Marty,

Thanks for the offer, great initiative! I actually have recently hired 2 other VAs for a new business venture I will be launching in the next few months. If I need more help, I will definitely post an RFP at VAF.
