Default Bankruptcy
Hi everyone, anyone,
Just signed up, I am interested in starting a virtual bankruptcy preparer(?) service. I have worked in for a very busy bankruptcy attorney for over 20 years and I would like to offer my knowledge and service to attorneys in the Northern and Eastern Districts of CA. I know I have a lot to do, starting my web pages, documents, etc. but how much support do I offer?
Do I let the attorney know when a case has issues and may not fit into the type of bankruptcy they recommended and why it will not work or is that not appropriate?
I hope this doesn't seem like I'm putting the cart before the horse but I need to know where my boundaries are.
Also, where in the forum do I find other virtual bankruptcy assts.
Thank you,
Linda

Hi Linda,

Congratulations on the start of your business! I wish you well and look forward to hearing more from you on VAF!

I believe your question is about 'what services should I offer'? If I am correct, then I would suggest that you begin by writing down all of the bankruptcy work you enjoy the most.

I am not familiar with the bankrupcy business but say you like to create database names or you prefer creating PowerPoint presentations for the attorneys. (Again, I don't know what the business is about.)

So you would offer these as your services.

If review of bankrupcy cases for attorney is a service you enjoy and wish to provide then you would indeed offer this as a service.

But do go through and make a list of services you believe attorneys will need to free up some of their time and align that with the work you enjoy offering.

Try to come up with a package as this will help to sell value.

So you might have:
Review of bankrupcy papers
Organize papers
Other services

And advertise this as a full-service package.

There are a few VAs as I recall on VAF that are bankruptcy VAs. There is also a social group here on VAF that you might wish to join and chat with other VAs who offer the same services. Here's the link http://www.virtualassistantforums.co...tcy-assistant/

Good Luck!

Janine

Hi Everyone,

I will be starting a VA business very soon. I will be offering different services in my business and Bankruptcy is one of the services I will offer. I'm currently in school now and hope to graduate this May. Thanks Janine for this information. I took Bankruptcy as one of my electives in school and we only covered the rules of the current Bankruptcy laws, we did not fill out any forms. I'm so glad to have found this forum because it has given me alot of information that is not available. I have looked at the virtual bankruptcy forum and found Victoria Rings book. I will be ordering it soon.

Thanks again and and good luck to everyone in their business adventures.

Cbonn

Baygirl and Cbonn, I am also providing services in the bankruptcy field as a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant. I have done a lot of research in this area and have found that Victoria Ring at 713Training.com provides great training and offers an abundance of resources. I just posted on the Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant social group site an article about services you can provide as a VBA. I wish you luck in your new endeavor. Please feel free to contact me.

Howdy fellow VA or should I say VBA (Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant). A VBA prepares Ch 7 and 13 bankruptcy petitions for attorney clients (never directly for the public). And yes, when you have issues, you DO relate them to the attorney via an attorney cover sheet. You should really check out the web site 713Training.com. They provide marketing materials even a HUGE book on how to get started. And with all your years of experience, you will be able to hit the ground running. Good luck, this is a very good field!
