Definitely not a bankruptcy paralegal here. I do just about anything but. Way to intensive for some, especially as a VA. Good luck on the test.

Re: Any Bankruptcy Virtual Assts on the board?
I've been looking into VBA as my "niche" and have been looking closely at NAVBA's training and stats. Since it costs some significant investment to do the training and testing, I'm wondering if it will be as hard to find attorney clients, once the time and money is invested. Has anyone had any recent experience with this field? The BestCase software reminds me of software that I used to write IEP's on, my six years of teaching Special Ed - "paperwork" and process of putting it in to the software is very similar. So, I think I would like the field, but am wary at investing so much time and money for training and then not finding clients right away. I've been doing VA for a few months; paid a server and designed a webpage; and have only had 2 nibbles. So, I am very discouraged; especially after looking at the "pirrhana" atmosphere on Elance, Guru, etc...
I've been glued to my computer reading and researching for 8-12 hours a day for a very long time. I guess I'm just looking for answers or assurances, which I'm sure there aren't many. Anyway, thanks for "listening" :-)

Re: Any Bankruptcy Virtual Assts on the board?
Hi SharLynn, I can't vouch for the NAVBA training, I have been a bankruptcy paralegal for many years so did not take it. But, if the site makes any type of income claims, I would be very wary of that. It is not possible to predict what someone else's income might be, even with the same training and marketing efforts. As far as getting clients goes, it is always going to be a challenge no matter what business or niche you choose. Every business on earth, even non-profits have one main goal: more clients or contributors. Is it easy? No. But is it possible with sustained effort? Yes. In general, having a business of your own is not for the easily discouraged. No business comes with a guarantee of income. Activities with guaranteed incomes are called: jobs.

Re: Any Bankruptcy Virtual Assts on the board?
I know I'm late in posting an answer to this question. I did get Victoria Ring's ebook but did not do any type of training since I worked for 18 years in the legal field. I've heard mixed reviews about her programs but I believe you get out of a program what you put into it.
I am a virtual legal assistant that specializes in document preparation especially bankruptcy but I also do family law, construction law, criminal law, and constitutional law.
None of the paralegal classes I had covered bankruptcy. I learned from another employee in the law office I worked at.
I have found her ebook inclusive. Please keep me posted on your progress.

Re: Any Bankruptcy Virtual Assts on the board?
I currently am not in the legal field. I've been out of it for many years. When I was a legal assistant, I spent many moons printing and copying paperwork - every court had different rules (as some of you know).
I know a lot of the paperwork is now filed electronically. I think that is fantastic! I would love to get my feet wet again in the industry. I just need to find a starting point if I wish to pursue.

Re: Any Bankruptcy Virtual Assts on the board?
I am a VBA now. I just started in this particular niche. So no clients yet. But I am so pumped to get things going LOL. Here are some places to visit: VBA Certification, NAVBA, Victoria Ring on Linked In, Vikki Watanabe and 713 Training. I think you will find lots of information and help in getting started as a VBA. I also highly recommend the How to start a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant Service by Victoria Ring.
Good Luck,
Andrea
