Default What is a fair fee for bookkeeping?
I am looking for someone to keep my books. I am starting a merchant processing sales group and will not have the time to keep my own books. I got a quote from a company in Nevada and they want $2000 every six months.

I suppose it would depend on how involved your books are going to be, the number of transactions and how many accounts/statements, how detailed, etc. Are you doing accounts payable and receivable, payroll?

If you divide that figure by 6, it sure doesn't sound like enough for all that.

What would it cost you in time and resources to do it yourself? How much time would you spend away from your core business?

Only you can say what is a fair price for your business.

You make a good point. I am just in the early start up phase so we do not have many transactions yet. The biggest need will be tracking of residuals.

I really want to give the work to a VA rather than some company.

I think you will find that most, if not all VAs are companies. We are all business owners.

My business is assisting other small business owners with their administrative and bookkeeping needs. I use my expertise to assist business owners in growing their business by taking a pile of receipts, statements, and numbers and showing them how their business is doing.

Starting your business off right with a good clear understanding of where the money came from and where the money went. You can find out what is working, what is not, what contributes to your bottom line, and what takes away from it.

Finding a good bookkeeper that understands your business model will help you in ways you never imagined. Be sure to choose wisely.

Cicero, you should use an online software to manage your items.

I too do bookkeeping and understand your focus is on growing your business not the bookkeeping side of things. If you'd like to private message me I would be glad to get you a bid for the services you need. I don't do retainers at this time I only charge for actual work completed.
