? for those who have gone beyond bookkeeping?

I am wondering, as I am planning to start out my business offering Bookkeeping services. I am wondering for those of you who have been in this for a while and have a long list of services, did you already know everything before you got started? Or did you seek out other education so that you were able to add these skills? Really my question is what were those educational avenues? I was looking a little bit into the REVA certification, and I'm wondering what or if there were others that anybody found to be beneficial?

Example, I was perusing the Elance website, and I have seen alot of postings for the need of mass emailing, which according to the ads require a special skill.
