I'd like to hear about what you liked and didn't like about the course, as well as any helpful hints for those of us who may be taking the course in the future.

I signed up with the local community college and the class starts October 20... yeah... I was not sure I wanted to do the online training so I went with the classroom setting. Maybe once I have the basics I will sign up for the online class.

I have several friends who use Quickbooks and also there are a lot of ads for people with Quickbooks knowledge in my area.

So I hope to learn a new skill and then incorporate it into my va business.

I just passed 2008, and by the skin of my teeth! I had a few days left before they closed the course and I locked myself in my office on Friday afternoon and finished it Saturday night. If I hadn't skipped 2007 (because I was wrapped up in my wedding) I would be able to just take the refresher. But you have to have 2 years in a row. I wish I had time to go right into the 2009 test while it was all fresh in my head, but it may be later this fall before I can get to it. Good Luck every one! Note that if you can get a 2 monitor setup, you can do the test on one monitor and have QuickBooks open on the other. That really sped me up since I could go look things up quickly.

I would like to know if anyone has gotten any jobs because they were QB Pro Certified? Any calls from the website or link they provide once you have taken the course?

I was thinking about getting certified and then contacting local CPA firms to see if they needed any extra help during tax season. Any ideas or experience from anybody?

I have had a few calls from the website. Definitely helps with the CPA firms, if they are not familiar with your work.

Thanks Sara. I'm just trying to figure out if the cash outlay would be beneficial. Funds are tight but you have to spend it to make it sometimes. Now is the perfect time in order to get ready for work during tax season.

Hi everyone!
I am revisiting the idea of getting Quickbooks Pro Certified and once again would like to know if anyone has received any jobs because they are certified. Does anyone feel the certification has paid for itself?

Thanks for your input.

I went through QuickBooks User Certification and liked it a lot. I learned a lot more than anywhere else and have been able to set up a couple small businesses. Also, it made me convinced to purchase the QB 2010 ProAdvisor with PAYROLL certification, which I will be doing the end of April (after TAX season). Puchasing in April and May makes a person qualified to also receive 2011 in December, since it's a 12 month purchase.
Being a ProAdvisor also gives you a listing on the Intuit web site, which can include a link to your web site and a moderate personal profile.
Also, I recommend learning about financial accounting itself. This is how I found out I like QB. There are a lot of ProAdvisors out there that don't really know much about accounting, and it is very helpful in being able to converse with clients and know why things happen or should happen the way they do.
Good luck to you!

Hi Butterfli,
Thanks for the comments.
Did you take the class that is about $479?
When did you take it?
Have you had any calls or leads from the Intuit Website?

Thanks!

Because I took the User Certification and not the ProAdvisor course, the price was lower. The $475 is a good price in reference to the price list I have. I'm going to begin my certification in May/June.
I haven't gotten any hits from the Intuit web site, but during networking meetings like QB Meetups, there has been mention of people seeing my listing.
I'm looking forward to a bright future with Intuit as QB fits perfectly with my other skills and services.

ProAdvisor is on my to-do list too. Neasie, I have 2 kids and a hubby also so I understand the slow process of reaching goals!

Best to all!

This certification is also on my to do list for 2010. Just need to buy a new computer first and then...that will be my next purchase!

I have been a Certified QB ProAdvisor for 4 years. It is a great way to show clients you are an expert in that field. Also by being a ProAdvisor you get additional advertising on the Intuit website included with the initial fee. I have received 3 clients in the last few months from the Intuit posting. Good Luck.
