Default QB Payroll
Do you use QB payroll service for your clients? I was just curious, do you charge them the fee that you are charged for the subscription, or do you consider that a cost of doing business?

The more I think about it the more I think it is just a cost of doing business. I have one client who, when he came to me, was already paying for it himself, but it is coming up for renewal. My current subscription already has three companies on it so if I were to pick his up I would have to pay for another subscription.

I figure the cost of the payroll service into the price I charge my customers. The only thing I charge them extra for are the direct deposit fees.

If you subscribe to the accountant's payroll version you can do payroll for up to 50 companies.

I think that is what I will be doing on both counts. Thanks!

BTW, do you charge a different fee for payroll than bookkeeping?

I charge my client's a monthly fee for server hosting and if they want payroll service there's an added charge for that. I don't directly pass on the fee...I just have a set "subscription" fee that I charge for providing that added service. I have the Accountant's payroll version thing. For processing payroll I charge my regular hourly rate. I used to manage a payroll company, if I were to add more payroll client's I might look at a fee schedule like I had there for doing payroll. But right now I don't have a lot of payroll clients so I just charge my hourly rate...it's easier for me.
