Default Payroll clients
Do any of you offer payroll services to your clients? I always say I don't want to then someone will come along and I get a small payroll account again.

Anyway, last week one of my clients had an issue with his payroll company withholding taxes incorrectly for an employee and I had to deal with that issue. The company is in one state but does work in multiple states and this particular employee lives in a different state. Very confusing but I found a great website that explains multi-state payroll taxation issues very clearly. So, I wanted to share.

Seriously, though, I hope you don't have to deal with these issues yourself.

Hi Lanelt,

I am currently doing a course on payroll and will be offering the services as soon as my studies are complete.

Thank you for the website, will definitely look at it and keep it for future use.

I don't offer it at all because I could never stand doing payroll.

I don't blame you. I managed the payroll department of a bookkeeping company at one point in time. I often ask myself why I even offer it. LOL

Actually, I'm very picky on which companies I'll do payroll for and have a great provider I'll recommend to everyone else.

I do payroll at fulltime JOB and every quarter when I'm doing the payroll taxes it reminds me of why I don't want to be bothered offering it as a service in my VA business LOL

This is exactly why I like to offer payroll services. Good payroll providers are hard to come by, and the bigger ones are so horrible with their customer service that it is easy to shine as a great provider. Thow in the fact that not many people like to do payroll, it has become my main source of income right now!

Outsourcing payroll is not very big in SA, as all the big companies have their own payroll departments.

But I do believe things are changing, that is why I decided to offer it as a service as well. All the accountants that I spoke to, says it is definitely something to look into!!

Will keep you informed of my progress.

LOL! Funny how so many dislike payroll. I love details and I love payroll. As with my current studies (Paralegal degree) there is so much talk about not liking the research and the briefing. That is what I love to do. LOL!

I offer payroll services to my clients! I am actually in the process of mass marketing payroll services. It is one of my favorite tasks to do. I know call me crazy!

I never minded doing payroll much. But I agree that the quarterly taxes and workers comp reporting is a huge pain. I'm going to have to think long and hard before I'd decide to take on a payroll client.

Somehow my payroll clients have tripled this last quarter. It's insane. Unfortunately, it also means dealing with multiple states which is a pain in the rear. When I managed the payroll company all my clients were in one state. I've spent the week talking with tax agencies in three states. If I never see another payroll report it'll be fine. But, it'll all start again next month.

I love payroll. LOL
