Default How to get started in bookkeeping?
Good Morning!

My name is Barbara Everett and I did accounting for an investment firm some years ago. I still have a love for numbers and I think this niche (and maybe Social Media Marketing) may be the best fit for me. I feel more confident in this area as opposed to the other administrative work.

Anyway, can you suggest any online classes I can take or books I can read to get back into it? I have a basic knowledge of bookkeeping but I need to re-sharpen my skills.

What about lessons on Quick books?

Any information you have would be appreciated?

I took an online class on Quick Books that is offered by VA Office Goddess. It was very informative and helpful. I had no Quick Books experience, but now I feel like I could do it fairly well after taking the class.

If you have QuickBooks Pro, there is a tutorial in their help section that will get you 'up-to-speed' on how QuickBooks works. I also recommend the Bean Counter series for a 'brush-up' of accounting basics; I wouldn't use it as the standard if you've never done accounting, but it sounds like you just need some refreshers.

Barbara,
Intuit has a training CD for Quickbooks that walks you through the process. I purchased mine on E-Bay for a third of the cost that Intuit sells it for. Good Luck!
