Default Getting new clients
I'm new here, and I have been spending a lot of time reading through old posts. Everyone seems very friendly and helpful!

I have 15 years experience in bookkeeping, and very extensive experience specifically working with nonprofits. I am just getting started with virtual bookkeeping. What has everyone found is the best way to get clients? I know "word of mouth" is the best, but I mean as far as getting clients that aren't necessarily local. How do you do it?

I have a website but in all honesty I don't think I get a lot from that. I have responded to RFP's and I've picked up a few clients through that but the bulk of my clients have been through word of mouth.

I think one of the best ways is to go to networking meetings. I just started my business a few weeks ago and have been to two meetings and already have 2 clients and others that I'm talking to. I was very surprised at how well they went.

I was just as puzzled as you are when I first started, but I found social media has been the best thing I ever did for my business. I am almost at capacity in just 6.5 months since I changed my business name. I fine tuned who my ideal client was, got an awesome client that refers me to others, and have been getting found on facebook quite a bit as well. Knowing exactly who you want to work with and marketing exclusively to them is the key. When I did this, I gave a presentation for agents about a month ago, and now am almost as full as I can handle by myself. Just fine tune it all and it will happen!

I like the idea of networking. I know locally it is good to join your local Chamber of Commerce. Make sure you have business cards everywhere you go -- but like you I wonder re true VIRTUAL clients from other areas. I have a website but clients have to be driven there, so while it is a very necessary tool - you have to get the client to look at it. Looks like "Exec Assist" has a VIRTUAL PLAN
