One thing that I've heard over and over and over... it to "brand your company". I am not going to claim to be an expert on this subject but I try to make things "mine" that my client's see. One thing that my client's (and yours probably too) sees on a very regular basis from me is my invoice. So, my invoices are customized so they reflect my business.
This is one of the first things I urge my clients to do when I start working with them. I do a lot of template customizations.
Here are two samples of invoices for you to see. OK, I'm very web-challenged. But, I figured it out.
Here are two invoice samples.
Customizing your own invoices in Quickbooks is easy. It can be a little time consuming if you want to take your customization to the next level (one of my client's has customized hers and it's awesome!!!).
First, create a duplicate of the one you want to modify by going to Lists: Template and selecting the template you want to modify. Right click on it (or select Templates at the bottom) and select Duplicate. This way you can play all you want and not worry about messing up the original.
In your Create Invoice screen select the Customize box. (It depends on what version of QB you're using so just look around it's either at the top or at the bottom.) From the initial screen you can add a logo, change your color scheme, and change fonts easily.
To get a more personalized invoice, go the the layout designer. (Look at the bottom of the customize screen.) Here you can move things around, add boxes, change colors, add or delete lines, and add customized text. It's really not difficult. It can take some time but the result are worth it, I think.
Have fun.
