Default Chart of Accounts for Virtual Assistants
I am very new to Quickbooks, I've taken a class, won Quickbooks Pro 2009 and am ready to get started.. I want to truly understand QB by first using it to keep my businesses in order. QBs has a Chart of Account for Realtors, but besides the regular Chart of Accounts for "service companies" have any of you set up specific categories specific to Virtual Assistants?

If so, do you mind sharing?

Thanks so much.

I usually start with a basic service industry COA then add and delete what I need. I consider a COA a constant work in progress. Just keep it simple, it doesn't need to be overly complicated but needs to be something that works for you.

Great advice Lanel!

I started with the general one and have added and deleted as well...as Lanel says it is a constant work in progress.

I too started with the general service industry setup and customized from there.

One more piece of advice - once I had a year under my belt, I deleted the accounts that hadn't been used to make it feel a little "cleaner."
