Default Bookkeeping Software for Mac
I am wondering what you guys use for bookkeeping? I heard so many negative reviews about Quickbooks Pro for Mac and wondered if any of you had any experience with this?

hi,
I'm too looking to hear what you all say about these. Quickbooks for Mac isn't available in the UK so I'm practically stuck for my bookkeeping needs!

If anyone has any recommendations - and hopefully there's some that's low-cost or even free - then i'd be grateful!

There's GNU Cash but I tend not to trust that one (even if it's free!)

Regards,

p.s. there's not many book-keeping programs for the mac as they tend to use a linux database.....

I just spoke with a Business Partner Consultant from an Apple store that sells Mac equipments and software, etc.

He highly recommends Windows Version Quickbooks Pro over Quickbooks Pro Mac. He gave me 3 different options should we purchase a Window version of QB.

1. Install Windows on your computer and re-boot into Windows every time you want to run your Quickbooks Pro software for PC and re-boot back to the Mac side when you are done.

or

2. Install Windows on your computer but also install a program called Fusion that will allow you to launch Windows in a desktop Window keep your Mac side up and running while allowing Windows/QuickBooks to operate at the same time.

or

3. Do not worry about installing Windows on your computer, but install a program called Crossover instead which will allow you to run the PC version of QuickBooks Pro on the Mac. There is a free trial of this software and if you like it, it only costs $30 to continue using it.

Number 3 sounds like a easiest and best option for me. It all really depends on what process your Mac is running on. It would work if you are running on Intel base Mac.

Just wanted to follow up - Crossover program will not work for Quickbooks Pro 2009 but 2004 and less.

For those who would like to run most of PC programs on Mac including Quickbooks Pro 2009 - getting a Fusion for $80 dollars would solve the problem for you.

There is another product for the MAC, it's called Liquid Ledger 2. http://www.liquidledger.com/ Here are the features of the application: http://www.liquidledger.com/features/ looks like you can export to Quickbooks if needed for transferring files to PC systems. Their reviews are average and it could be that it lacks the full features that Quickbooks provides.
