I don't like Quicken (Quicken has the Home & Business edition) anymore, the simpler they try to make it the worse it gets. I would recommend QuickBooks Pro.

What is the difference between QB Simple Start and Quicken Home ane Business edition? I was going to download QB Simple Start because it's free.

QB Simple Start is the beginner's QuickBooks. It is limited on function, but is good for beginner's. You can upgrade to QB Pro later, if needed. I would recommend it over Quicken H&B.

I have a couple of clients that use the Quicken H&B and I think it is very confusing for people because of the way it integrates the personal and business stuff together. The simpler they've tried to make it the worse it has gotten.

I am currently making the switch from using MYOB in my previous position to QuickBooks for my business. It will take a little time adjusting, but I think it is going to be a better system.

I'm so glad that I found this thread. My assignment for tonight (self-imposed) was to research Quickbooks and especially the online version. I guess I didn't have to look far...lol

I was thinking that the online version may be a little cheaper as a start-up software and just as good, especially when working with remote clients. Still researching the price but unless someone says otherwise, I think you've convinced me on QB Pro.

Any thoughts from those using the online version?

I have been pushing myself to check out these programs.

I haven't added accounting or bookkeeping on my service list because I'm not much into those things myself. But I've decided to look into them and see if it might spark my interest enough to go further into it or not.

You can add me to the growing list of QB Pro 2008 fans. I ordered it last week through the link on Rebecka's site & received it yesterday, along with an additional training CD. I love it! I really like the format of the home page too.

Our VA was thinking of starting off with this one before jumping into Pro? Having a software that is capable of Payroll or Wages is not a requirement at this point so it doesn't matter if it can't do this. Anyone any thoughts on using Simple Start before moving to Pro or have you any other advice we should consider before purchasing? Much appreciated!
I use QB Pro. Although right now you might not need some of the other items they offer in it, but who knows where the future might take you and your VA. It might be worth the extra expense to just get this instead of getting the other then finding out later that Pro would have been the better value in the long run.

The online is a monthly service fee so, in the long run, you are better to purchase the program and install it directly.
