Re: Would a subcontractor with a certification or training be chosen over experience?
For me, anyone I have working on my team or on a project I simply want to know they can get the job done in the time frame requested.
Training and certification isn't that important to me unless it's a necessity for getting the project completed.
I look at this way, I have a project, we've negotiated a rate and other terms. You get your portion of the project completed within the time frame and I'll work with you again.
Simple as that.
In today's market there are so many certifications for so many things and many of the training programs out there offer their form of "certification" simply because you've received a "certificate" of completion. This isn't meant to negate all of the very valuable certifications that are available, but I look at this way, if my client hasn't a clue about the certification then it's not going to mean much to them anyway.
I'm a perfect example, I can do just about anything you need when it comes to solving 1ShoppingCart issues, but I'm completely self taught and I haven't received any type of "certification", same goes with Wordpress and Aweber....
Okay, maybe this is just a bit of a sore point with me! LOL! I'm all for training, learning and educating but sometimes learning on the job is the absolute best way to learn.
So no having additional training or a certification isn't going to influence whether or not I hire you to work on a project.
