Thanks for the pointer in the direction of the sub-contractor thread. I have read through it and it does indeed offer some good advice, but unfortunately, not the information I need. :¬)

I understand that we can't discuss figures (for obvious reasons), but all we are trying to ascertain is whether we are looking at a reasonable figure if we look at 25%, 50% or 75% of the quoted rate.

The person who has offered the work to me hasn't subcontracted out to date so she doesn't know the answers either and she doesn't want to cheat me, but neither does she want to be short changed. The lady concerned is still holding down a full time job, so I offered to see what I could find out.

If anyone would prefer to contact me personally to give me a bit of direction I'd be most grateful and the information would go no further. :¬)

Thanks everyone
I apologize for sending you in the wrong direction. I guess to move forward with this question I need to know - How much responsibility will you have with the client? Who will handle the invoicing? Will you deal directly with the client? That should be your determining factor on your rates? Try this thread here. If you've already read it - Sorry! Does this help any?

That information was exactly what I was after. It has given me enough information to go forward with. Thank you so so much!

I am currently subcontracting since I am new to this business and it is showing me what the VA industry is all about and how the VA I am working with runs her business and how she got started. I think it is a good way to "test the waters" to see if this business is for you.

I just want to thank Darlene for this podcast series. Since I had interviewed with you and talked about my subcontracting experience it really gave me self confidence. Any of you looking to subcontracting you will gain that in time as well, if you don't already have it of course.
