Default Don't Ask What You Can Do As A Sub, Tell Them
Just recently it has been brought to my attention one of the key things in getting a subcontracting job is the tip I mentioned above. "Don't ask what you can do for a contractor, tell them what you can do "

Many of us I'm sure are stuck in this mindset. It's a tough one to get out of but it's critical to landing projects. Think of it this way contractors are overwhelmed the last thing they need is to manage more things.

How have the rest of you told how you can help service providers? What's your selling point?

It all comes down to being professional about your skills and your business, doesn't it?

The mindset you are talking about is the "employee" mindset. As a VA, don't do it !! Be professional, let them know what you can do, have them sign a contract just like any other client, and don't devalue yourself and your abilities by accepting less than your regular rate.

If you network and get to know other VAs, you will be able to be a "VA to VAs" and everyone will be in a win-win situation.

Good point. I just wanted to say that I think this is true regardless of your business model [subcontractor or not] - as a service provider it's crucial to be able to identify and define solutions to your PC's pain points.
