Consultation (not interview) update :)
The consultation was 7/30 (yesterday)! I think it went really well, and I truly enjoyed it. I thought I would be really nervous, but I was only a wee bit instead. I think what helped was that this woman is super easy to talk with, and I did my research before hand by going through her website and taking notes to "get to know her and her business" better.

SO...she sent me a contract to be signed and returned, and when work is available she is going to put me to work!! She had also given me a lead for another subcontracting position with another VA company. I had emailed this company and was wondering when I would hear back. Turns out, this second gal had called the gal I talked to today to verify that I was okay to contact. Very neat and humorous conversation we had. Bottom line, this other VA is going to contact me, too!! I can't wait!!

I had to laugh, because I decided instead of emailing the contract back with my signature on it, I would fax it to her as her assistant directed me to do (I also wanted to follow directions!). So...I got PamFax working and faxed over the contract. Duh. The darn PamFax only sent the "first page free" (the cover sheet), instead of the whole fax (but I was charged for the whole fax [I had used the back button because I realized only the cover sheet was going to go - but it happened anyway...grrrr...need to have a talk with "Pam"]). I got a kind email telling me that she "kind of" got the fax, LOL. Second time I was taking no chances: faxed again AND sent an email with it attached. [Update - second PamFax did not deliver anything but the cover sheet either. "Pam" is going to get the boot!]

All-in-all it went really well and I am so pleased. She is a very, very nice woman with a sense of humor, and I'm not just saying that because she might see this post sometime; I truly mean it.

Thank you all so much for your advice and helping to calm my nervous excitement!

P.S. Sorry if this is a bit of a double-post - my other one got buried and even had Winston not realizing what I had posted. I am just too excited about this and felt it was important for other newer members to see!

Aw, thank you guys! I guess it hasn't sunk in yet because I haven't been assigned any client(s) yet from the first VA business, and the second one has yet to contact me.

So, until I am actually working on a project for a client, I'm containing my total, unabashed excitement. Kind of...

Update: Only one new client so far for sure. The second one contacted me today, and she is going to make a decision this fall or so and will get back to me.

I'm still pleased that what little networking I've done so far is producing results. I can't wait until I am in full swing with my site done and rolling!

Hey, I'm a "glass-half-full" kind of gal, what can I say.

Jules, you are obviously extremely skilled and capable, so I'm gonna say, relax a bit, because this pussy footing with clients will continue as an everyday thing. Assume nothing, at least until your contract's signed. Many peeps don't know how to be straight with you.

Keep using the internet to get closer to those who appreciate your worth, and be very patient. You'll weed out a lot, while you make other, strong and wonderful connections.

Oh yes, I'm relaxed. I have a lot to do with my website and still learning so much about being a quality VA working in the virtual world, so there is plenty to do right now as I bide my time. I'm still working on getting a darn fax system in place. What fun. VA company one's assistant is letting me try out different fax systems with her. Poor woman.

I have had to deal with the dragging one's feet issue with designing web sites, so it's nothing new to me, thank goodness (I'd be a nervous wreck, LOL). Seems it takes some folks forever to make up their minds.

And yup, I have a signed contract with the first VA company. Very cool! I can't wait to "strut my stuff." The second VA company told me VA-1 really thought I was "fab." <huge grin!>

Aw Mary, I feel that just finding this site/forum was the best darn thing I ever did, but I'm also getting into the groove a bit and attempting to tweet more often, etc. Once I get my site done I'll have more time to spend networking. I really appreciate our interactions here and the wonderful advice provided. to you!
