Dear, oh dear.

First, I apologize for starting this thread more than a year ago, then getting so busy I never checked in again.

Just the same, I am glad to see I'm nowhere near alone in my corner of the VA world. And I'm still very much interested in meeting. Can you stand if I revive the discussion?

Angie, I love your idea of a Charlotte group as well as your great list of possible topics/activities for a VA day. But I have to admit Charlott'es a bit outside my comfortable one-day trip range.

Either Richmond or Northern VA looks relatively central to a bunch of us. Are there enough of us interested to have two groups/events--Charlotte, NC, AND ___, VA?

We were tending a little bit towards Charlottesville, VA. How's that for you? It's a long way from Charlotte, NC - probably 6-7 hours driving ...
How many here would be interested in a Charlottesville meetup? Could Charlotte, NC, area VAs handle the trip?

IF we arranged it for a Friday, I would be willing to attend, but only b/c my brother and sister-in-law live in Charlottesville. It's about a 5 hour drive, door-to-door. Keep posting as I'm interested!

Hi all,

Mary and Sheena, either Richmond or Charlottesville would make me happy. I'll go with the majority on that issue. Angela, Saturday would be my best day. We don't have a babysitter, and my husband works most Fridays.

I guess we still have to think about dates...oh dear again! We'll need a little planning time between now and then. Mid-August or later looks feasible to me. Thoughts?

Sheena, you live there, right? Maybe you could find a good place for us to meet?

If enough people are up for that schedule, then we can worry about the agenda. Y'all state your druthers!

Well I do thank you all for thinking of me lol... but now I have another issue lol. That date is not good for me. I could do the first or second week in August or anytime after the first weekend in Sept.

Sorry I am being the difficult one here. If you all can not accommodate, that is cool. I will still look for a venue. Just tell me what are you all thinking. A conference room type, dinner type or something more relaxed?

Thanks for being the brave one, Mary! As of now, either August 15, 22, or 29 would work for me. I'll need to mark my calendar soon, though, to be certain that doesn't change.

So far, it looks like we're going to be a pretty small group. Informal might make the most sense. How about the reserved-for-parties area you find at the back of some restaurants? That would probably give enough space for ourselves as well as drinks, meals, legal pads, laptops, etc., even if we manage to grow our "confirmed" list to a dozen.

That is exactly what I was thinking. The 22nd would be better for me. I can get started on a list of places Monday. And then let's say let's confirm by Saturday June 27 date, time, venue and all). That way we can make our in plenty of time and I can reserve a spot in plenty of time.
