It's funny you said that, I actually joined Meetup a few weeks ago. I've heard a few positives and negatives about it though, which is why I haven't gone to an actual meeting yet. A friend of mine said that when she went it was lots of people there trying to sell her on these pyramid schemes, but I also know someone who had a really good experience. I think it depends on which groups within Meetup that you actually join. We can do lunch one day if you like just to get acquainted with each other and to put together a networking plan. There's definately enough clients for everyone and I'm a firm believer that there's strength in numbers, so I'd love to exchange ideas with you.
I'd love to attend a meetup in Dekalb. I'm in Stone Mountain. Use eventbrite rather than meetup.com to organize the event. Eventbrite.com is free. If I remember correctly meetup charges the organizer to use their services (unless they changed that since I last used meetup). Let me know. I'll be happy to set something up on eventbrite if we can agree on a place and a time.
Trena, you said it girl. With a population of 519,141 in Atlanta and 5,278,904 in the Metro area I think there is more than enough clietns to go around, not considering the "virtual world". I be glad to meet with you next week, how about Wednesday for lunch? I live in the Snellville area and you can give me a call and we can pick a place, maybe half way. I also reside in the Atlanta area, although not South Dekalb (Roswell). However, I wouldn't mind driving the distance for an occassional meeting with you all.
