Hi All, Think I may have done something wrong as I did add my name to join the European Group but can't find my post! Sorry if I'm being a thickie but all this is new to me and still trying to find my way round! Brilliant idea by the way and huge thanks to Donna for organising it. Jane
Hi everybody, I've joined also. Looking forward to meeting you all sometime in the future!
Hilde - I hope that everything is going well for you. I can't make it next week as my hubby is on vacation and we'll be out and about with the dogs. I hope that we can meet up sometime soon though. Are you still working full time? I've got my business up and running and am taking transcription work to start with just to get me going. I'm finding there's a lot of work out there so it's all good!
Thanks for joining everyone! We are a small group :-) but it is great that we are there on the ground floor... we can only grow from here! Jane - you are in the group so you must have done it right ;-) Bonne journee! Donna
Thanks, Donna. Have spent many hours reading through the whole forum and getting myself better acquainted with what's available, how it works etc. Really looking forward to contributing positively to the group and let's hope there are more members out there! Jane
Hi there
I am also based in Europe, but a bit far from you all. I live in Madrid, Spain and hopefully will sart my VA business very soon (fingers crossed). I wish you all the best in your businesses.
Hi Marta, good to know there's another European member out there . I wish you every success with your new business and hope it goes from strength to strength in the future. How is the VA industry in Spain ? Jane
Hi Jane, the VA industry in Spain has not yet developed, so it will be quite hard to start here. On the other hand, I think the economic situation could be a benefit since many companies canīt afford to have regular employees, but they still need the work done. I really hope this works and I am preparing for it before I start. How about in France?
It's quite similar here where they still have a reluctance to remote working and prefer traditional office staff but as you say, the economic situation may help to change that in our favour. I must admit that I intend to market my services at businesses based mainly in the UK or English people living in France to start with and then see how it goes from there. I will keep my fingers crossed for both of us and it would be good to keep in touch. Have you got a website yet?
Do you think the market is better in the UK than in France? I hope it works for you and then you can expand your services to other people in France. It is nice to keep in touch, but at the moment I donīt have a website. Iīm still working on it. Hopefully will be ready soon!! Take care.
I believe there's more opportunity and choice in the UK and as I worked there for more than 25 years I have a lot of experience of the market as well as a lot of business contacts which I will make good use of. Also I am in a very remote rural part of France with the nearest big town about an hour away so local business opportunities are somewhat limited! That's the beauty of having this forum to share ideas and thoughts with other people and to know you're not the only one out there! Good luck with the website.
I love the idea of VA meet-ups! I'm UK based and am attending the UK VA Conference & Awards in June 2010. I heard about this event through another VA site and thought it may be useful to meet established and successful VAs. I'm going to post a thread about the event to see if anyone here will be attending.

That sounds a great event and wish I could attend but unfortunately not possible. I hope it goes well for you and it would be good to get your feedback as and when you get a chance. Like you, I love the idea of meet-ups for VAs so hopefully we may all be able to get together in the not too distant future.
