Would you like to get together and meet as VA's in our local area? If so, let me know. I'm gathering information on a place for us to meet. Internet service may be limited for me thru Sunday, so if you don't receive a reply immediately, you'll know why.

Depending on how many people would like to join us, we'll play it by ear on where to meet. If it's just a few people, how about tea at a tea shop? If not, that's ok too! I'm easy, just let me know.

Hi Robin,

Just wanted to introduce myself as an up and coming VA in the Roseville area. My busines is called, Butterfly Blue Virtual Assistant Services. Currently, I am earning an AA degree at Sierra College in the new Virtual Office Professional program. There are a few of us in this class that are trying to work together. Our leader so far is Sara from 101 Virtual Assistants. We just started a meetup group for Northern California VAs.

Hello Neila - We actually have a group for our area too! Would you like to join us? We met last month and are talking about getting together again. I actually contact the Dean of the VA program at Sierra College myself. Are there any summer classes? She asked the counseling dept. to forward information to myself, yet they sent a link to the summer class schedule - not the actual class program. I'm curious if it's beneficial for people who already has experience??? What do you think? What is your background? We'd love to meet you all and have lunch one of these days if you'd like? Thanks for getting back to me so quick. I have forward our conversation to the other VAs I know for their review. As for the questions: Sierra College doesn't have any summer classes or fall classes for the core part of the program. The classes are good, and it would be quick if anyone was interested if they went the Certificate route. These core class teach you how to set up an office, marketing, webdesign, networking, branding, logos, and lots more.

The program has certificates/degrees in Administrative and Technical Support as well as Web support. I prefered to go for the degree because I want to earn an AA-degree and set a good example for my kids. My husband has a BA in Business. So the bar is set high!...lol

My back ground includes 11 years of office support to an SBA loan officer, plus an additional 4 years in customer services, auto insurance, and retail experience all of which required my previous office support skills.

I am not sure what you mean by "PM me", still getting use to all this abbreviations.

Will get back to you when I hear from my classmates.

I am in the same class with Neilia. I did not know that you had a group so close to us, and am very excited to hear about "you!"

I started a "Meetup" group for "Northern California Virtual Assistants," and we are going to have our first meeting, May 16, at 11:00 am in Auburn, right off the hwy.

We would love to have you come and any one else in your group. Maybe we can combine forces! So far we have eight women attending the meeting.

All of us are experienced in the corporate world, but are just starting out as Virtual Assistance. We have a lot of knowledge and would like to share it with others, and obtain experience and knowledge from experienced VA's.

Hi everybody! I doubt May 16th will work for me. It's our son's Birthday and we're planning a BBQ at our home. As the time get's closer, I'll see what the plans turn out to be. It's wonderful to meet you all. We had a meeting in Roseville which turned out to be very informational. Four participated and a fifth wanted to, but recently had surgery. Thanks for the update on Sierra. Tess had a recent "chat" and a topic was brought up about certification, etc., and most people already have the background in their "fields", so certification won't and doesn't mean much now as most see it. I'm curious on what the classes have to offer that, A) we don't know already B) can't find here, etc., so keep us informed. I've gotta run, busy day tomorrow. Doing in-house work for a client, three days this week...Boy do I miss working at home! But, work is work....Keep in touch!

I must be living under a Rock, I didnt see this thread until Robin sent me a PM this morning. I think its so great that there are so many of us around here!!

As far as the meet up on the 16th, I probably wont be able to attend because I am having a Mary Kay party (my cousin sells it) but heck you are all welcome to come on down as they say! Would be fun!!

I did look into the VA program at Sierra but I have different needs than the program is teaching, its great they see the need and fashioned a program for folks to get into.

I just realized that I'm committed to the Relay for Life in Folsom on the 16th, so I'm not able to meet you all this time. It seems that I saw a place where we can setup a group the forum. If someone points me in the right place, I'm happy to get it setup so we can stay posted & chat...
