Default Digital Signature
First of all let me announce that the real estate client has accepted and signed my work for hire agreement. I got it in email last nite. Yahoooo!!!! More about that in another post.

He sent me the signed page in PDF format. Should I do a digital signature and send it back? or just do a regular signature on the document, pdf it and send it back?

Thanks,
-Alice

Thanks to both of you.

I think I meant the type of digital signature. My apologies that I didn't make my question clear. In any event, I have sent it back digitally. :-))

I have scanned my signature and then insert it into to document. I would be interested in comments on this. Should I be using digital signature software instead?

I hope I didn't misunderstand this... lol. In terms of signing something digitally, I don't know too much about the technical version of doing this that has been mentioned (using some software). What I do is insert my actual sig (an image i've already created by scanning) into the contract, PDF it & send to the client - then they sign, scan, & email back to me.

Another option for sticking a sig image into a PDF, is just by creating a "button" in the PDF & using your sig image as the "fill" for it. (probably a better way to explain it, but that's the short version - & you need PDF editing capability too.)

I'm interested in learning more about the digital "signing" software that has been metioned though - will look into it, thanks.

Is there any other digital software anyone suggests? I am trying to get everything I need together and do not want to miss anything.

I just used a digitized copy of my signature. I scanned my signature and that's what I use. It'll stand up in court and that's all I care about. Honestly, an e-mail that says an agreement will stand up in court also, according to my attorney.

Wow, I am totally lost, now. I was searching the net trying to find a fax service in anticipation of having to send signed agreements back and forth. And now if I understand it, you can do this some other way by email?

Do you have to have a digital signature to do this sort of business? I was thinking that if you have a scanner, you could just physically sign an agreement that you receive electronically, scan the one with your added signature and PDF it back to the client? Are there advantages/disadvantages to digital signatures? It sounds like most have to pay for that service.
