Default Contracts, Agreements etc... questions
Hi everyone.

I feel like I'm going 100 miles per hour, scrambling to get all of my documents ready so I can officially launch my business. I have one client I'm already doing work for (with out a written contract or anything!! EEK!) and a few prospective clients waiting for me to get back to them.

I want to be sure I'm completely understanding what I need to provide these clients.

My biggest question is do I need to have a "letter of agreement" AND a "contract" or can these 2 things be combined in the contract. I'm kind-of getting confused by all of the different sample forms out there and want to keep things as simple as possible.

With my current client I'm working at an hourly rate up to 20 hours per week. I need to provide some kind of official contract for him to sign. I want to include the Non Disclosure info in the contract so that I don't have to have more documents than necessary.

I do many task for my client (Realtor) and I'm not sure how to list these tasks on the contract, or do I even have to be detailed in the specific tasks I do. He is billed hourly.

Thanks!!

Hi It's an exciting time, enjoy that feeling, it's fun!

I don't think you need both - just wrap all of your terms and policies into your contract and you should be set. In my experience, a letter of agreement is simply a very casual contract - shorter, less legal jargon, etc.

Hope that helps!

DonnaMarie,

I'm just getting started myself and know exactly how you feel! And I too am struggling with creating a contract...the one I was going to use just seemed like "too much" information...I'd love to see a sample of a simple contract to use.

Good luck on getting clients and prospects! You are on your way!
