April,

It looks good but you are missing a couple things to protect yourself.
-What happens in the event of Late payment/non-payment?
-Who is responsible for paying for postage, graphics, etc. Are they included in your fee or are they extra for the client?

Otherwise it is nice and straightforward.

I think it looks great. I don't have my own contract with me at the moment but I think under 'Termination of contract' I had a blurb that either party must give a certain number of days notice before terminating the contract. That's the only bit I can remember that I don't see here. Good job!

Hello,

I think that the contract is too vague. I say this because the services you list in section I could be ongoing services or they could be project services. Therefore I think you should have two contracts.

For example, you require a deposit for project work. This type of work is usually cut and dry. You will put a website together and do to so for a price and will have it done within a specific amount of time.

However, you also list social media services which I feel is not cut and dry. So you will take a deposit and then what? You will charge hourly or you will charge by the project. How will you determine how much work will be done for social media? Will you tweet 100 times in a four week period or will you post on a Facebook page once per day? I believe that there are unknown factors which is why the contract should be split up in to ongoing services and project services.

If you want to use your contract, which is a good start but IMO too generic...I would take out the list of services in section I. I would create a contract for project work where you will indicate not only the deposit but the time line to complete and any additional work that you will do for an hourly charge. For example if you are going to create a website, you will want to say how many changes you will make for the client because the changes can go on and on and on.

If you want to offer ongoing services and have not created social media packages, your contract should reflect purchase of time 10 hours at $xx and a list of what you will do for this type of work.

I would also exclude that you will have work done by 11:59 pm because that may not always be possible. Anything can happen that you can't meet that deadline. I think it is restricting. I would say that turnaround time is 24 hours or less...

VAF offers contracts in the free document library. I would also suggest that you look at the Virtual Assistant's Contract Pack http://www.virtualassistantforums.co...141#post154510 and the Welcome Packet which includes a retainer contract http://www.virtualassistantforums.co....php?p=158087/

Thank you Janine for your input.

I only offer project package rates. I do not offer hourly rates.

Also, I did view the contracts in the document library, as a Legal Secretary and as someone who has worked for an atty's office, those are more geared towards retainer/hourly VAs.

Again, thank you for your input

April,

I understand that you will only offer project rates. I am suggesting you have a contract for hourly/retainer on hand due to the diverse services you offer.

Having been in this business for several years offering project rates, I haven't found a suitable way to offer only project rates for certain services. I make this suggestion because I would not want to see you perform work which would not be covered in the project fee scale.

I took a look again and I would also state how long the contract terms are good for and include any information on rate changes and termination of contract. I once had a client hold onto a contract for a few weeks before making a decision only realizing that the 'good for' date should have been stated in the contract. I had raised my rates during that time so I couldn't go back and align his rates with my other new clients. Now I include a 'good for' date...usually 14 days.

Best of luck to you!

Janine
