This is a question not related to my virtual assistant business but to my freelance writing. I really appreciate opinions on this...
I was hired to write four articles for a new magazine. We spoke about what I was going to write and I was fine with the topic and the timeline. He had a contract that he wanted me to sign which was ok with me...but when he sent me the contract I noticed that there was a section in there telling me that after I get paid for the articles, I am obligated to purchase the May issue of this magazine!
I wrote to the person and said that I've never seen this before and said if anything usually people provide me with a complimentary issue. Keep in mind that I'm not getting paid a ton for these articles either..so really he wants me to put in a lot of work, not get paid as much as I should and then purchase the magazine, making my pay $10 less?
Has anyone ever seen this. The person told me that the reason why he is doing this is to show him commitment from the writers and to improve his Amazon sales rank...I don't know what to think
