Default A Contract From Me & A Contract From Them?
Hello!

This has never come up for me before, so I just thought I'd ask. Have you ever been asked to sign a contract from your client? I have a contract I use, but they have one, too. Does anyone see any issues with having both? I guess it really just protects everyone in the end, but I have just never had this circumstance arise and just thought I'd get some feedback.

Thank you!

If you can afford it, have an attorney look over their contract. The problem with having two contracts is that one may conflict with the other, and if that's the case, it can make any litigation really, really ugly.

Thank you very much for your response! I will take that into consideration. I'm hoping they will be very similiar, but you are right. If it conflicts, that wouldn't be a good thing.

Thank you again!

Hi Michelle
There was actually a similar issue recently for another member, here's a link to the thread! Hope that helps a bit.

I think in the other Tess said exactly what I would say. Make sure that it covers both of your interest and use one to avoid confusion if possible. And always have an attorney review your contract..

**thought: hubby is an attorney, VAs have contracts and need attorneys -- he could be a VA attorney (scribbling in my ideas book)**

The obvious question in this situation is " Do both contracts have the same items of agreement. If so, there is no need for two contracts. If not, then you are headed down a path of discontent. If you go to your client with an issue of compliance with your contract, you may get their contract pushed back at you with a statement that goes something like this "Well, my contract says differently." Read each contract carefully before signing.

I have a client that I had to sign a contract for also and it was just to protect his confidential information and his huge database of contacts. I had it looked over and signed the agreement and he signed my agreement too. I am glad I did cause he is a great huge retainer client that I would not want to lose!! lol

I once signed a contract for a client after looking it over. The contract provided by him was simply to protect his database of customer information. There was nothing more and nothing less to his contract, so therefore I felt it did not conflict with mine.
