Welcome to the forum. It is great to be part of this big family.

I'd love to hear more about you, where are you based, and how long are you in the VA industry?

Thank you very much for that information.

It really sounds better than the one I have. As you said, I do forget to hit the stop / start button, it takes time to get into that habit.

Thank you for sharing your great resource. I will look at it right away.

Thanks for the information in this thread. Must download these and try them out. So far I have just been using Excel to keep track of time but while I find it fine these do sound interesting and maybe better. We will see!

Hi All,

The suggestions on time tracking is great. I am simply using Excel to record my non-billable hours and would prefer something else once I land my first client. Has anyone had any success with time-tracking through Quickbooks? I have it installed on my laptop but have yet to open it. I am waiting to open my business account and PayPal so that I can load everything at one time. (I received my Articles and EIN today).

Sincerely,

sy(Sheila)

I have been using slimtimer at slimtimer.com. I have found this to be a great tracking tool. I had tried some of the others, but this one better fits my needs.

I have been using Myhours.com since day 1, and I love it. I'm able to do import into excel and have a daily breakdown for my clients when they ask for it. In the past year and a half the system has only been down a few times. It's free and it's worked out pretty good for me.

I didn't realize there were so many choices! I will have to download a few and try them out.... I was planning on using the old paper and pen method!

Okay - this is my new perfect solution!

I'm now using Task Coach as my stop watch and inputting everything into MyHours.com. If only the two could be combined as one so I could save a step! I love that I can easily turn the Task Coach timer on and off with a click. I suppose I could actually use a stop watch, but I still like adding the task information and being able to look back at it.

The reports from MyHours.com are phenomenal.

Edited to say that I've just discovered MHlite portion of Myhours - DOH! Ignore what I've said about task coach. For whatever reason, I just never looked for that solution on the MH site before today.

Thumbs up Re: Free Time Tracking Software
I love the time stamp software. I downloaded it a few days ago and have been playing with the features. Should simplify time tracking for me especially since I'm just starting up my business.
Thanks for the suggestion,

I have heard some good things about Easy Time Tracking and also see it is listed here as a resource. Looks like it has some good tools, anyone used it yet? Happy with it?
