Default Your project/money "Hub" software list
I've been training to nail down (i.e., starting to play with trials) what I want to use for my online business side of things. I see dozens of threads asking which software you do use as a list (some as old as 2008) but not specifically in combination for this side of things.

I want to get everyone's opinion on what software combinations they feel work best together and what works for them.

So I ask And if you use offline software, please share that too!

What software do you use for your:
  • Time Management/Time Tracking?
  • Project Management?
  • Invoicing?
  • Accounting/Banking?

I use Word 2007 for alot of this stuff. It is easy to use and adaptable. You can also use older versions of Word. Furthermore it is free until you can afford a better one for your business.
Templates can be found on Word 2007 by clicking "New" then a pop up box will appear with allsorts of templates.

Hi Carrie,

I'm happy to share my favorites:

* Time Management/Time Tracking?- My Intervals

* Project Management? My Intervals

* Invoicing? I invoice through Paypal or Intuit Payment Network but printable invoices I use kBilling(free)

* Accounting/Banking? I use Quicken Home & Business, my Bookkeeper keeps track of the just business stuff for me in Quickbooks. My banking is through my local bank.

Some other items I use:
OneNote- I use it for tons of stuff and I am not normally a note-taker/to-do lister.
-I have a notebook just for clients, they each have there own tab and I keep little snippets of info about them and their projects their (including passwords). I like it because a client can mention something on a specific website they would like to utilize on their own and I can send the url or a screenshot right to Onenote to have when I need it.

- I have a notebook just for my company stuff (passwords, links to forms/contracts, etc.)

-I added a notebook for each of my various other projects

- I even have a notebook for recipes (I know, I had never thought of it either)

Hope this helps. There is a free alternative to Onenote (although not exactly the same) called Evernote.

~C

KeePass is an excellent program for safe keeping of confidential client info, like logins, credit card numbers, ssn's and more.
Outlook is what I have been using for scheduling time set aside for my clients. I divide my time and set appt.'s and reminders for each time slot. It only takes a quick minute to record in the info section what specifically you worked on during that time. Using the color coordinating categories and labels I mark time accordingly (ie: after invoicing that specific time, I change the label to one I created as "invoiced").

Outlook currently works for me, though I am looking for a more integrated software package; one in which I can easily look at a client's profile to view tasks, checklists and/or trends. Any suggestions?

We have some thigns set in stone and some things that we are still playing with

  • Time Management/Time Tracking: Freshbooks for time tracking, we also use it for our invoicing. As for Time management I use a system that has tungle, Google calendar, and outlook all syncing together. This allows For me to keep myself up to date on outlook, my team to see whats going on with google, and clients to schedule appointments in tungle, it works really well.
  • Project Management: Basecamp - love it simply put and its easy for my clients to use so it really saves them money because they spend less time trying to get the tasks to myself or my team.
  • Invoicing: Again Freshbooks it set it up so that a pay pal payment link is available and it provides a custom invoice with ease. Much simpler than Pay Pal invoicing IMHO, it also integrates with base camp (not as well as I would like how ever) so it makes billing a million times easier.
  • Accounting/Banking: I use BoA for my business banking account and then Quickbooks I have also been experimenting with http://outright.com/ and I've been pleased so far.
