Default Shared Database - PC & MAC
My client is a psychotherapist. She uses a Mac, and has a very simplistic contact database - name, address, DOB, phone, email. She doesn't need any CRM capability, since she's not in sales. She just wants a complete, concise database of her clients. My computer is a PC. I would like to have access to her database to be able to update entries, compile lists, or get an address for a letter to be sent - without having to go to her office and get the file. I have looked at many online solutions, but they seem to be way more complex than we need (and more expensive). Does anyone have a suggestion for a web-based, simple database, that can be shared between a Mac & a PC?

Thank you for your help!

I would recommend Google Contacts if you just need a simple database.

How about Zoho Creator - they have a free version that might suit your needs:

"Zoho Creator is a database software that provides Individuals, Small Businesses and Large Corporations a secure platform to create Online Database Applications"

Or Grubba - which is free or donationware (if you like, you can donate, but not required to do so):

"Grubba : Your online database
The free online database for home and office.

Grubba is the free and online alternative to MS Access and Filemaker Pro.
Choose a template or create your own forms and database to fit your individual needs. Suitable for beginner and advanced users."

HTH a bit even if the original post was a month or so ago...

If she doesn't want to change the database she is currently using, my recommendation would be to have her export a file to you in comma or tab delimited, with the clients she has. You will need to be able to create a database file that is compatible with the export, regardless of whether it is going to be used on a mac or PC. Once you have that file, you will need to set up a database that mirrors her output file. Once you do that, you can simply merge the file you create in her existing database by creating an output file with in the same format she gave you originally.
