Default Power Point to Video?
Does anyone have any experience with software that will convert a powerpoint presentation to video for posting on a website?

If you google "convert powerpoint to video", you will find lots of results. There are several converting programs that you can purchase....at my daytime job they use Camtasia Studio (company is called TechSmith).

We also have a screen capture program called SnagIt. It's very inexpensive I think about $40 for a single license. We mainly use for screen shots, however, you can ALSO record what's on the screen and save as a movie file. So you could start recording while your PowerPoint is "playing". I will say that the quality is not going to be quite as crisp as the original, but it's still good. We LOVE SnagIt.....there's a lot you can do with it.

I haven't tried it for something like this, but JING project allows you to record what's on your screen as well - so might be worth looking into (it's free )

You could try Windows Movie Maker - you would save your slides as jpg's and then put them into the movie. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...r/default.mspx

The best part is that it's free with XP SP2, check out this quote from Microsoft's Page

Quote:
Q. How do I get Movie Maker 2.1?
A. Movie Maker 2.1 is included in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). To download Windows XP SP2, go to Microsoft Update.
Here's a link to the FAQ page I quoted above http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...reate/faq.mspx

Have I mentioned how great it is to have a community like this to ask questions of? Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm excited because I actually have Jing, so I'm going to see if it will work like SnagIt. I'll let you know. I tried Movie Maker, but I have sound and animations in my presentation which don't transfer to Movie Maker.
And although I would prefer free, I did find a bunch of PPT to video converters for around $50, I just would need to decide which one.
Thanks again everyone!

Another simplier solutions would be to save it as a PDF show. You can also save as a powerpoint show under "file" "save as". I have saved as a PDF show and used on a website. It works great.

Tess - thanks for that suggestion. I had been struggling with this question for a day or so.....never thought to use Jing! It worked perfectly!

Thanks again!

The featured software on the Give Away of the Day website, is an application that converts PowerPoint presentations to Flash format. It is called iSpringPro and normally costs $199. However, if you download and set it up today, it is free. However, GAOTD software is not for business use, it is only for personal use. (As one commenter stated, "How often does the average user need to turn a PowerPoint presentation into a Flash video?") But you can try it out to see if it's something you would like to purchase for your business.

Wow, I knew this was the site to visit to get my question answered. I just downloaded Jing and can't wait to finish my first video.

I downloaded Jing and am uninstalling it. The stuff about what gets captured being hosted on their site or server or whatever concerns me. Client confidentiality in our business is so important and I'm not sure I like the idea of client stuff being out there.
