Default Photo Manipulator Needed
A friend is really into photography and looking for a program to manipulate photos, such as turning them from colour to black/white, enhancement and so on. I know nothing about photography, but the programs are very expensive. There are a number of free ones out there and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good one. Thanks so much!

try paint.net for a cheap alternative to Photoshop. It doesn't have the same higher-level capabilities, but I used it to convert a photo of a statue into my avatar.

I use Instagram (free app). Only very basic but if you are out and about you can get some pretty good pics on your iphone.

Thanks for all your suggestions. An acquaintance also recommended Gimp and I've passed the info on.
