I'd recommend taking a look at Quickbase (
www.quickbase.com) by Intuit, the same company that does Quickbooks, Quicken, etc. It's an online user-friendly customizable database system that allows for multiple users. I used it pretty extensively a few years ago to manage my then-employer's customer information, daily operations and even some billing.
I don't know if it hits your price point but I can tell you that for us, it was worth the cost. It was very easily customizable which allowed us to do so much with it - things that only our business needed and that we wouldn't have found in a pre-packaged solution.
