Window 7 users, speech recognition software is included with Windows 7. Now you can dictate your documents, blog posts, emails and lots of other things by using this free application. It comes with a great tutorial to get you started.

To begin in the search bar type "Speech Recognition" to access the program and set it up.

I have been testing it out and it works really well. One suggestion though is to have a good headset microphone.

Now that sounds pretty neat Lee. I have been playing around with the idea of getting a new desktop. I always have different ideas for podcasts, blogs and such -- but I am much better with the spoken word than the written at times. So, this is one more reason I may lean towards a PC with Windows 7.

Do you think you will use this often and more importantly- do you think it will help with blogging (something I sorely need help with lately too)?

I have already used it for a doc conversion that I could not render from a pdf due to watermark issue. What a time saver that was since I was able to bake some cookies and converting a document at the same time!

I am going to dictate some blog posts this weekend to see how that goes. I think it will help me with my blogging since I find it easier to get things out as I speak rather than type.

I have a client who is a coach that uses voice recognition for all his notes and blogs and he loves it. He did not think that he would however a broken arm forced him to use this method and he has not gotten away from it.
