Default Microsoft Office Live
Hello Ladies,

I found this website (microsoft office live) I wanted to find out if
you know any thing about it. As far as I can tell it is free for now.I
just wonder if there will be a charge for this service in the future.
Having the ability to share databases/spreadsheets and other documents
is really great with out having to email them. They can be edited Live!
Or downloaded to a PC. I am going to do some research, let me know if
you have any info.

Thank you
Teresa

I think it's a great place to start with the website and all of the tools. I have an account and I've started building my website there. One of the ladies here told me about it. Check out this thread

Getting Started without a website??

Hi Teresa
Try running a search in the 'General Website Development' section for this topic and you'll find a number of threads where this website building system is mentioned (here are a few results) might give you a bit more insight into what everyone else has to say about it (I've never used a template program so can't speak to this one, but from what I've read here other members are pretty happy with it as an option to help get them started)

I have been using MS office live for about a month. I have not used the sharing capabilities so I'd really like to know what you think if you beat me to it. I don't have any experience creating a website and I found it very easy to do with this tool. I had my site up and running in a couple of days. I've had great experience so far with free tools I've found from Microsoft - including MS accounting. I've wondered myself about charges in the future. If I see anything, I'll share.

Hi Teresa,

I created my free website with Office Live in late December of last year, and there still haven't been any fees. I haven't used the document sharing feature yet, but the website has been nice. Creating and modifying new pages is very easy, but I would advise you to check your live site after you make changes, because sometimes the formatting gets messed up.

Best of luck!

Hi Teresa,

I have also have a MS live site (http://virtualassistantcompany.space...m/default.aspx) and it was really easy to use.

I don't think they will be charging for it anytime soon since they are trying to compete with Google in the online application space. Not to metion all the integrations it has with it's other MS prodcuts. I just started building mine so I have not yet used the shared file area.

I'm actually using the space as a libray for my clients; I will we creating a link from my website to the MS site.

Good Luck!

Smile Re: Microsoft Office Live
Microsoft Office Live is a great way to build a website from templates. You get an account with domain registration and hosting for free for a certain time period dependent on where you are located. After the initial domain registration, you then have to pay the current registration fees. Storage fees also apply should you require more than the free storage provided.

However, there are also various ways to use Microsoft Office Live without the templates using technology, some coding and enabling background applications. My husband and I attended a few months ago an in-person Microsoft training for Office Live in Chertsey, England which equipped us with the capability to build customised websites. My husband, a software engineer, is also a Microsoft certified professional and Small Business Specialist and recently awarded for the second year running a Microsoft Most Valued Professional (MVP) award for technical expertise and expertise in Small Business Server.

Should you require more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,
Grace Long
