Default Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Blue Edition
Has anyone heard of this company or this version of Microsoft. I thought I knew all the Microsoft Office Editions...and I have not heard of the "Blue" or DiGiTAL. A client told me that it was a good company but I wanted to run it past the experienced ones here. They are saying that they have a free copy that you dont need the OEM for.

Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Blue Edition? A hacker group named DiGiTAL has released a software package named Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Blue Edition, an edition of extremely popular 2007 Office Systems suite. The group claimed the Blue Edition as a secret edition that only available to original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and not to the general public. It further claimed that the released Blue version is the copy from the original disk which is only accessible to technicians of Microsoft. That’s why probably you’ve never heard of “Blue Edition”.

Rebecca,

I heard about this late 2008. I also read somewhere that it is a pirated copy and may be loaded with bugs and viruses. I am going to stick with my licensed version since I don't get or use pirated software.

I think there are enough open source software versions of all the office products that this would be a route I would never take.

Let us know if you find out anything further, I am curious if this actually exists or is just another hoax.

Sounds shady to me. I understand the "anti-Microsoft" sentiment of hackers and all, but I still find it hard to trust such a underground copy of something.

Hi Rebecca,

I, too, had heard about this but some further digging also revealed warnings of software full of viruses (similar to Lee's experience). I decided that while it would be great to save some money, I would stick with purchasing a licensed copy of Office.

Let us know if you learn any more about this or have any experience with it, I would be interested to know if its any good.

I know some people who have it and from what I understand it is usually given to computer companies and repair shops to install onto people's computers. I've not heard of any virus from it.

I told me client that yesterday...and he was like all upset (like I told a child he could not have that piece of candy). I don't do pirated software, either. I like the support that comes from registering my software, if I need it. But I wanted to see if I was being overly protective or if others felt like me...

Amarie,
My client says that this version they ONLY give to manufacturers and such like you said.
