Free Database for Contacts, etc.
I have a new client and he freely admits to being very unorganized! Yeah for me! LOL
However I was wondering if anyone is familiar with a free web-based database that can store the clients contacts (past, current, & potential customers) and their contact information. In addition a place that we can upload documents to save for future use and such.
Thanks!

Re: Free Database for Contacts, etc.
Hi Alexis, I'm a very big fan of OfficeZilla. It meets my 2 big criteria because it's web-based and FREE. You, as the VA, can create one account, then assign an ID/password to your client. You can share contacts, files, links, calendars, task lists, and even send phone messages and short notes to him/her. There are no limits on storage or how many clients you can have. Also, you could posts a little login box on your website and direct your client there to login. It's not completely intuitive, but there are short videos if don't know how to do something. Also, if you had more than one client using it, you can send broadcast emails to all clients, or specific groups of them - like a reminder that you will be going on vacation, or suggest a service like "Going on spring break? Allow me to keep up with your voicemail and email while you are away."
Anyhoo, I love it.

Re: Free Database for Contacts, etc.
You might check out BatchBook as well. They have a free account and the cheapest paid plan is $9.95/month.
I use it for two of my clients and really like it. You can create to do's, log communications, export to mailing lists, import, etc.
If you have the free account there can only be one user. Currently, one of my clients has the free account and I log in with her information to enter in contacts, create to do's etc. She doesn't really get into it, she just leaves it to me. As she is growing and wants to import more clients, I know that she'll probably want to do a paid acct at some point.
But for a basic database, the free plan should suit you fine!

Re: Free Database for Contacts, etc.
I've used Office Live Workspace and Office Zilla. I like Office Zilla a LOT better. I can't comment on the contact manager for Workspace though. I never really got to use it before I discovered Office Zilla, which had the features I was looking for. They have the code that you can put directly on your website so clients can sign in and even sign up. It's just easier, simply put.

Re: Free Database for Contacts, etc.
I just utilizing Office Zilla for one of my clients and I was wondering is there anyone who can tell my why I can't import data from excel and also, if my client can export the data from the site to her blackberry?? I can not seem to find that information in the videos or in the admin area. Just off the top of my head; have any current Office Zilla user have security issues or concerns? how safe is client data ?? Thanks guys !!

I wasn't thrilled with Office Zilla. I tried to be, but we just never clicked, lol. I really like batchbook a lot, and zoho is another good one too.

Re: Free Database for Contacts, etc.
Honestly, what I like most about batchbook is the aesthetics. Office Zilla never appealed to me visually, which made it hard for me to want to use consistently. Batchbook is very user friendly and simple in a streamlined way, not a limited way. It's free for up to 200 contacts, I believe.
