I have used Central Desktop extensively with one of my clients. I have found it to be extremely user friendly, easy to add/delete/complete tasks, manage workspaces, customize workspaces and more.
Also, if I ever had a technical issue, I emailed their support (through the Central Desktop system) and always got a response the very same day. My experience with it has been positive. Now, in terms of cost, if you are just starting out, I would give it a test run (Looks like you can do a 30 day free trial) see if you like it.
There are apparently free project management resources out there that may work just as well. A few were noted here and I just read about another one in a thread on VAF called Project Pier
