Camtasia 7
Camtasia is one software on my Wishlist and I'd just like to share that I was able to get a copy for such a bargain. This is one expensive software but I believe a very good one. And as much as I would like to purchase from Techsmith, I just can't right now.
Anyway, check out iOffer, it's somewhat similar to Ebay. Just search for Camtasia 7 and you'll get search results for people selling this.
Btw, I bought mine for $12. There's this other person selling it for $8.95. I tested it already yesterday and the software works. They will send you the software key so if you already downloaded the software, you can just enter the key.
Hope it helps.

Re: Camtasia 7
I just purchased it but no where near that price. Is it a full version with the correct licensing?
Now to learn how to make use of the changes!

That seems a little odd to me that you can legally get a piece of software that retails for $300 for only $12. I'd be wary if all I got was a software key and not an actual CD of the software. Is this some way to know if you got an original software key and they aren't just selling the same key to everyone? I suspect Techsmith can easily track software keys and how often they are used, whether or not they go after illegal ones would be another matter.

honestly, i'm not sure if it's legit but the seller said it is (but of course, they will always say it is!). anyhow, when you purchase from techsmith yourself, i believe you will only get the software key as well as the software itself is downloadable online, unless you order the one where it requires a cd to be shipped to you. Usually a software installed on a computer will work with the correct software key and the only thing a software company could track if it's illegal or not is when they send out updates.
i'm all out for purchasing the original software. but times are hard, and i'm barely starting out in the VA business. so as much as i would like to, i can't.

Re: Camtasia 7
Could anyone share how long it took them to get up and running with Camtasia? Is the learning curve quick? I'm trying to decide if I should learn it or just outsource projects to another VA with Camtasia expertise.
Thanks for input ~

Hi Dawn
I downloaded the 30 day free trial version and think it's absolutely brilliant. I, too, really can't afford to pay for the full version.
It is relatively easy to learn but there are some complicated things to grasp like adding video to a web page. Although Camtasia does all the hard work for you, like creating the html code for you, it took me a while to figure out which files to use.
It's like any software the more you use it, the more you get out of it.
They do provide great video tutorials though.
Hope this helps.
Chris

Hi Lily
I have also used CamStudio and was trying to edit my videos with Windows Movie Maker. The quality seemed to deteriorate when I pulled them into Movie Maker. Does CamStudio allow you to edit videos? If not, I hope you don't mind me asking what you use to edit them?
Thanks
Chris

Re: Camtasia 7
I found Camtasia fairly easy to learn and use, but I also had some previous experience with video editing. I agree that the video tutorials they offer are really good for getting you started.
I also like that Camtasia has the ability to allow you record a PowerPoint like a video. This is a great feature.
@martsgirl- Yes, you can buy it online and just get a software key to activate however, they do have the ability to track it. Would they? Doubtful. I completely understand that with limited funds, we do what we can to find the best deal especially when starting out. However, I guess there's a part of me that believes that the selling/buying of software keys or other illegal behavior just contributes to the higher price of software to begin with. They have to take into account that's what is happening and set their price accordingly to make up for it.
By the way, if any of you have a child in school, you can buy the software at an academic discount store online with proof of school enrollment. I bought Camtasia for about $170 this way.

Try Vegas Video ( http://www.download3k.com/Install-SONY-Vegas.html) I haven't used it yet but my computer guru said it's the ticket...
