My love is finding software for businesses to use. The other day I was reading about software companies needing quality controllers or software testers. Is there anyone out there that has done this or does it now? Where do find software companies looking for legitimate testers?

I don't know about any "jobs" for software testers but, I've been a beta tester for many years. I can't say for who but, if you google either "beta tester" or "company name or software name beta tester" you'll find quite a few. Sign up for any you have interest in.

Usually the testers get a free full version of the product at the end of the testing period. Sometimes you'll just get a small thank you gift (ex. t-shirt, usb, etc)
I've gotten many of the programs I've used (but could've never afforded) over the years that way.

One word of caution: make sure you actually enjoy the testing part of it. If you are only doing it for the free stuff then your testing will not be "up to par" which defeats the purpose of the beta program.

So you haven't had a hard to with the companies being legit?

The testing is somethign I would love to do to help grow my VA business to become more knowledgeable. Free stuff is a nice perk but not a necessary.

Just be sure to look for the beta testing opportunities that are directly with the software producer. Example: don't sign up to beta-test a Microsoft product if it's not through Microsoft.

You may not be chosen but I say sign up for everything you are interested in. Most companies prefer if you've had some experience with their product or something comparable.
