Default Any opinions of Office 365?
One of my clients is looking at moving to Office 365. Anyone have any experience (good, bad, or ugly) with Office 365 and webapps?

I have not used it but here are a few articles that reviewed Office 365: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2383731,00.asp and http://blogs.technet.com/b/whymicros...e-pudding.aspx

Thanks for the articles, Lee. It sounds like in order to get the full benefit of Office 365, the client needs to opt for the Office Professional Plus desktop add-on as well as the cloud-based Office 365.

Anyone else have opinions or experience with Microsoft Webapps or Office 365?

Thanks!
Alise

Alise,

I have not pursued it thoroughly, but it doesn't impress me. I found that when I was in the Word feature to create a document I was limited to what I could do and then had to download it to my desktop to use the Word program there. Same goes for the other programs. To me you pay what $400+ for the Word software and then I believe (I could be wrong here) pay a monthly fee for the Office 365. I'm not excited and won't be using it or telling my clients about it. Maybe over time it will improve to what I'm seeking, but right now I was not impressed.

If I'm wrong, do tell me.

Re: Any opinions of Office 365?
Office 365 is awesome! I pay for the cloud version for only $24 a month. I've decided to go paperless. SinceI work from outlook 2010, Office 365 seemed to be the best choice. I love the flexibility of it and I LOVE the fact that all my documets are located in one place, and my work is submitted by my clients with no hassle. I can chat with them and hold meetings with them sitting in the comfort of my home....or at the coffee shop down the street. I hate taking my laptop everywhere I go and Office 365 is great with my android tablet and phone. I can now do work without feeling overwhelmed. Just my thoughts. I have used about 4 different softwares and replaced it with one.
Hands down, Office 365 has my vote!! :-)

I'm trialling Office 365 at the moment alongside Google Apps and much prefer the latter. I can't get Lync (the online meeting app) to work and wasn't able to set up Outlook 2010 either.

I discussed my requirements with someone at Microsoft, i.e. I was a VA and wanted to share folders with specific clients, but he said it would be tricky to set it up, which wasn't encouraging.

I do have a (free) Windows Live account which enables document sharing on SkyDrive. I think this will probably be sufficient for my purposes, but I'm going to focus on Google Apps first and foremost.
