Default Am I Wasting Time Researching Software?
As many of you know I have a podcast on software for the virtual business. I'd like feedback from everyone on what kind of software you hear very little about. One that could help resolve or make that one task so much easier for you, if you had the right one.

Do you think this podcast will be a helpful resource or am I wasting my time

I don't think it is a waste of time to do research on software. You are a valuable resource when we need an opinion on software.

I have a few suggestions:
Are these worth using?

1.) http://www.picofactory.com/free/soft...ncy-converter/

2.) http://www.vani.be/contactkeeper/download.php

3.) http://giowisys.com/products/kontakter/

4.) http://www.rooksoft.com/

These are ones I would love to get an opinion on.

Thank you Collette

Andrea~

Research is never a waste of time. If anything it saves you from the issues that can arise later which could have easily have been resolved had you known had you checked out the software beforehand.

I used to have a podcast that centered on technology. I used VLogit! But about 2 years ago Adobe bought them out and in true Adobe fashion came out with their own version. I haven't had the opportunity to check it out yet but here is a link to the website if you want to give it a peek...

Collette,

First and foremost -- ask yourself this one question. Do you love researching and talking about software? If your answer is yes......than you are absolutely NOT wasting your time, period. I for one think your podcast is a great resource.

Here is a tip on how to find a topic for your show and in your case -- software. And this is pretty easy -- your audience is mostly VAs and other business owners, correct? Well, you yourself are a business owner. What piece of software did you have to spend time researching at one point in time? I am 95% sure if you went out there and researched it -- another business owner will be thinking of researching the software too. When I come up with my topics, they are usually topics or items that are on my mind. 90% of the time, that's how I do it. The other 10% is spent on paying attention to the questions people are asking online and around me. What are the common trends, etc.

Now as far as my suggestion on types of software you can discuss:

How about doing an episode on Open Source Software and Web Based programs (there are many programs out there -- Open Office, ZenCart, Wordpress, Project Pier and I can go on)?

Also, other non-open source web based programs -- like 1Shoppingcart, Aweber etc.

Darlene

I think Darlene has a good point with Open Source Software...not many people are familiar with this topic and your podcast could be the thing that gives them that little bit of help they needed..Good Luck!

Thank you all for your support. I guess it's not so much finding a software to talk about but I am so surprised how difficult it is to find a guest to talk about why they like the software. Getting the guests I want has been the hardest part so far. Yes I do love software so I guess I am bound and determined to make this work and be a priceless resource for others.

There I vented and I feel better now thanks for all my fellow VAs, LOL.
