Default free accounting software
i have found some free accounting software that looks quite good. the free version is for businesses with less than 5 employees.
It seems too good to be true. has anyone else used Express accounts by NCH? if so how did you get on with it

No. I have always used either Quicken or Quickbooks.

I'm interested in this topic though....

Thanks! I just read about this...it says that it allows you to create and print checks! I was looking for software for that! QB isn't allowing me to do it with blank check paper...so now will see if this program allows it!

I use Wave Accounting. They just added payroll so I would assume it has check printing capability. Wave Accounting is free.

This is great! I used Billable, but no longer have my Mac and wanted to look for some new PC accounting software.

I bookmarked both the NCH and Wave Accounting so I can do some further research.

Thank you for sharing!

I started out with a free version of quickbooks (have the pro version now) and use it as well at my day job...

I just signed up for the trial of freshbooks now that my site is live but haven't had a chance to use it yet - so far I like what I see...but I feel like quickbooks is what I will be using overall and then freshbooks for invoicing (I do not think it has all the capabilities of quickbooks)

Yeah, Quickbooks' a better software for accounting.
You can also try Bookkeeper as your alternative, I think they roll out a free trial so you can try it for a month.
