Default Email question
When you respond to clients or potential clients or better yet anyone emailing you to ask general questions, do you have any saying or link to your website or any other information below where you sign or respond to them? I have seen various emails that do this and others that choose not to. Do you think it helps to add that if you have?

Are you talking about a 'signature'?

Yes I have a signature. I include my name, business name, title, logo, contact details, social media links and at the very bottom I have some marketing material (only 2 lines worth).

It depends on each individual person I guess, and how you think it makes you look. I include all the above because I am 'virtual', I don't have a shop front for people to visit. It's all relevant to marketing yourself.

I have contact info in my email signature as well. I have my name, company name, phone number, website, FB page, LI page.

The contact people from my client/potential client businesses have this type of information in their email signatures, as do individual clients/potential clients who contact me using their business email. Some even have more, like a company logo, in their email signature.

In mine I also have a statement about the email being confidential and if you receive this email in error, please delete it from your computer, etc. Several of my clients have this in their signature. I felt it was a great idea so created one for myself years ago.

It's easy to set up a default signature in Outlook (as I'm sure it is with other email accounts) that automatically show up with every email you send. You can always delete it before sending the email if there are some that you do not want it on.

Personally I think it adds a professional touch - if it's consistent with your branding. Emails are boring without them now LOL.

Thanks so much for the insight on this. I have seen both done where no one puts contact info, linked in or fb info and I have seen emails where there is no contact info in the signature line.

Here is a site you might be interested in -- I'm thinking of using this for my name and then adding my information below it.

lbrown7205, thank you for this site. It's weird how you find something then lose it I've seen the sites before, but can never get back to them...time to clean up my bookmarks

On the subject, I think adding a signature is professional too not to mention free advertising!

I use Gmail to manage my emails and it allows you (similar to Outlook) to set up a default signature to use in every email and that is what I do.

I actually include a picture of myself since my clients are virtual they appreciate the picture to put a face to the name. I also include my email, phone number websites (I have a few that I promote). Sometimes I include a current promotion and then my social media links.

WiseStamp is another program that works well with gMail to create nice looking signatures.

I have just my logo, website, name, and social media stuff. I've been thinking about putting together a welcome package they can download by PDF with more specific info on how I work/bill, terms and a short letter from me. I'm battling with the idea of making a generalized questionnaire just because most of the clients I get need one thing here and there and not necessarily anything ongoing so I just ask relevant questions.
