Re: You now "Like" Pages on Facebook and not "Fan" them
Thanks Rebecca for posting this for those of us who are still learning all about Facebook. I'm not too sure I like the change, but I guess we'll get used to it--just like all the other changes they have made. And Pam, I guess since we "can't call them fan pages anymore" we have to call them "like pages". Ugh!

LOL Sylvia....they are still "Pages". Facebook is still letting us refer to them as "Fan Pages".

Good information. Thank you. And I agree - I wish FB would stop fixing stuff that's not broke though..too funny.

Seems like for the time being, they've reverted back to "Become a Fan" and listing "Fans" on the fan pages...I suspect there are some technical issues behind that. There were also some other big changes including profile connections to community pages and interests along with some privacy setting changes related to the profile connections.

While the change seems like a pain, I'm sure in time, we'll all grow used to it. Some changes are good as the platform continues to grow. The problem is that it becomes harder and harder to explain to those less familiar with it how to properly use it.

There's also been some rumblings that the new Like button is related to a new behavioral ad targeting platform that Facebook may launch. Meaning that once you "Like" a page, then when you log in again, certain ads may be targeted at you depending on your "Likes."

Thanks for posting this info, Rebecca. It's important to stay up to date with the latest!

Some of the other changes include:
On the right hand side under "Get Connected" you can actually see who you invited to join Facebook and you can track your invites. (Kinda strange if you track everything, here is one more thing for you to track)
When you become friends now with someone, their pic will show on your Facebook Wall (if you are allowing those to be published on you wall)

It does seem, Kimberly, that they are having issues with the rollout although some people are still saying that they are seeing the "Like" button instead of the "become a fan" button.

Thanks for explaining so clearly Rebecca.

I notice that on our Page we still have a "Fan Box" - so this has not changed to eg. People who Like your page. Hope it stays this way.

Regards

I have the same sentiments as most of you with the new changes. I hadn't heard of the changes, just happened to notice them today.

Just noticed a change and the Fanbox has now changed to "People who Like This" - not sure that I like it at all!

Do you know if can I delete my invitation from this list?
I know I can delete friend requests sent to Facebook users, but I can't figure out if I can do the same with requests sent to non-users (email invitations).

Thanks!

I am not sure that I "like" this however I will get used to it. And just as Rebecca is doing I am leaving my "Become a Fan" buttons on my created pages until everyone gets used to the changes and FB gets all the bugs worked out.

However, I do not like these little chunks of roll-out changes. They are difficult for my clients as once they get used to something another thing pops up. I get the thoughts behind it but it is still tough on members. Wonder how many groups will now pop up that are "I do not like the new facebook changes" or "Bring back the become a fan option"?
