Default Yet Another Facebook Fan Page Question
Ok, I'll admit it--I'm slow sometimes. I have a personal Facebook profile page, then I added a Business fan page and I even have a few fans (thank you fans).

My question is this: Why do my fan posts show on my personal home page and not on my business fan page wall?

I apologize if this question has been posted before, but I have looked and did not find the answer.

Hi, Sylvia. In trying to answer your question, I came upon a question myself!

First, my fans posts don't show up on my personal wall and they're not supposed to if they are only fans of the business and not friends of your personal account. They do show on my business page. So I'm not sure why; that is odd.

Now on my fan page underneath the "write something" box, I have three things you can click on that change what type of postings show. There three things are: "The Perfect Word and Fans" "Perfect Word" "Just Fans" Fan's posts show up on mine when you click on the first one or the last one.

For those I checked, almost none of the pages for people here have those three things. I did notice that The Doctor's Rx" page does, though, and several of my "Favorite Pages" businesses do, too. You can click on mine and see what I mean. Yours doesn't have those three things either. Maybe those of you who don't are customizing your page to remove them? I don't know if that has anything to do with posts showing/not showing or not.

I know I haven't been any help, but I'm sure someone here will know the answer! They've sure helped me a lot!!

Pam

Hi

Unfortunately, I am unable to answer your queries, but wish to pose one of my own. Maybe someone with expertise in this area and assist all three of us.

My query is why can I only become 'fans' of pages as myself, not my business. I really would like to become a fan of other businesses under my business name as opposed to my personal fb page. Is this at all possible?

Thanks for your time.

Cheers
Tania

You may want to set your settings. There is a section I believe for both the profile and fanpage about different type permissions. You can select if you want your postings on your fan page to be seen under your personal profile or not. Hope this helps.

I don't think this is possible, but you can have other businesses fan pages listed as your "Favorite Pages" on your business fan page. When you go to another business fan page, there should be an option under the profile picture to "Add to My Page's Favorites." Hope this helps some!

Not sure I have the answers but let's try a few things.

Sylvia;

Did you become a fan of your business page from your personal profile? If you did try to cancel yourself as a fan. This may make your fans comments not show on your personal page when commenting to a fan page post.

Tania;

Yes, I believe Perfect is correct - on your fan page you can favorite another page but not become a fan of it. Look at it like fans have to be people and not businesses.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Cindy,

Thank you for responding to my post. I really do not know if I am a fan of my business page--how can I tell? I do know that my page is listed under my friends list, but I didn't "put it there".

Ok, I'll take a stab at trying to answer some of these questions.

@Sylvia- I'm confused. Did you actually set up a Fan Page or did you just set up another Facebook profile with your business name? If your Business page is showing up in the your friends list, then it sounds like you set it up as a profile and not as a fan page. Can you please post a link to your business page? Or are you referring to when you post an update in the status box on the home page and it shows up on your personal profile wall instead of your fan page? If this is the case, then that's because that status update box is specifically linked to your personal profile. To post *just* on your fan page, you must go to the fan page and then post in the status update box on that page. To find your page, just look at the left hand menu on your home/newsfeed page and you'll see a link that says "Ads and Pages." If you click on this, then any pages for which you are an Admin will come up. Click on your page to go directly to it.

@Pam- The reason you see this on some pages and not on others has to do with the Options settings for that page. If you look just underneath the status update bar on your Fan Page, you'll see a little magnifying glass and a link that says options. If you click on this it will bring up some settings options for your page. Look at the drop down box for "Default View for Wall." If this is set to "Posts by Page and Fans," then you won't see all those different options posted on the page like you have on yours. If you set it to "Only Posts by Page," then the page looks like yours.

@Tania, you can only become a fan of page from your personal profile. Fans must be people not other fan pages. Becoming a fan of a page does not give them access to your personal profile. They only information they could access would be what you already have showing available for anyone who is not a "friend" which would depend on your privacy settings.

Keep in mind that according to Facebook's Terms of Service that you are only allowed one account with them which is why you have your personal profile and then set up as many business fan pages as you want *within* that personal profile account. If Facebook discovers you've set up multiple accounts (with different logins) they will disable ALL of your accounts and you lose everything.
