Question Twitter - I think I got it.... - Virtual Assistant Forums

Ok so I have posted how I just don't get Twitter. Everything I've read about Twitter provides NO explanation as to how it works. Today I received an email from one of the many places I've signed up with and she invited you to her Twitter site. All her "what are you doing now" are statements made by her. So basically all I need to do is have something interesting to say and post it everyday and maybe I'll get some followers. Is this how it works?

I'll wait for your confirmation before I tell you what I think next.

Jessica - You can use Twitter for whatever purpose you wish. Some interact with friends, some post interesting/helpful article links, some talk about how their day is going, some use it for marketing, or announcements, or events ... the list goes on & on.

You can think of it like a big ongoing party, where you dip in and out of the conversation.

Of course, if your tweets are good, you'll attract more followers; but you don't have to focus on quantity of followers - you may choose to focus on quality instead.

Just jump in there and give it a go. You'll get the hang of it.

Hi Jessica,

Twitter is like a mini blog. You can search for people and follow them and sometimes those you follow will in turn follow you. It's a way to stay connected to others.

Use www.twhirl.com to have an easy way to get your twits w/out the need to be logged in on the internet!!!

Umm, when I clicked the link above, it brought me to a directory site. Am I missing something, or is there a particular link on that site that I need to click in order to download the twirl application?

I've moved away from Twirl and am now using TweetDeck.

I personally use Twitter as one way to keep up to date with trends in the market place and also as a place to share interesting or mad things that i come across.
