I know a lot of us use Twitter as a powerful networking tool. So I was wondering what are your thoughts and views regarding Follow Fridays? (#FF, #FollowFriday) Do you participate or not? Do you gain followers? Do you have a certain criteria for recommendations?

Thanks.

Hey T
I don't have a criteria for #FollowFriday! I tweet what time I have and "try" to Thank everyone that mentions me. It's hard to set #FollowFridays before hand to go out. If I was to mention all the #FollowFridays I find valuable - it would take forever and a day. There isn't very many followers I have that I don't interact with in some way or another. I'm not on Twitter to gain the most followers, I'm there to build relationships! I seriously think Twitter is one of those Social Sites you have to form your own criteria for. IMO!!

Tahneesha - You are a true assest to anyone's stream on Twitter.

Hi Kena!

You make a very valid point regarding gaining followers. I agree, quality over quantity. I think that is awesome that you are able to interact with most of your followers in some form. I need to work on that.

Thanks for your input.

T;

Being somewhat new to Twitter and not have as many followers as you or Kena - I have focused my #ff tweets to include those that have been helpful to me, provided much info that I (and I believe my followers) find useful and mostly to those who I have begun building a relationship with on Twitter.

With that alone it takes time on Friday's to ensure to include them all (which as I say is not a huge amount). But this then lends to every week being different which I also believe is in the true spirit of relationship -- you don't interact with everyone every week.

You both are such Twitter stars -- if you think my strategy is flawed please let me know!

I participate in #FF, but limitedly; otherwise I feel like a spammer. Quite honestly, I don't have strong relationships built yet and cannot honestly "recommend" most of the Tweetfriends I have - because I just don't know enough about them.

I'm learning, and taking my time and hopefully will develop stronger contacts within my networks, but I'm not going to toss up a bunch of names just because.

If I've had a positive interaction with someone, or their tweets have been interesting, informative or inspiring, then I make a mental note and make sure to #FF their names.

I do #FF only to those who have added value as followers or for my colleagues here that I have interaction with as another avenue for all of us to get out and about in the virtual world. I usually will look into profile of some that are recommended but only from people whose input I value.

Okay, total newbie to Twitter here (I'm on there, but...) Please, pray tell, what the heck is #FollowFriday, and how does it work?

Thanks!

#FF or #followfriday is a way to suggest people to follow, by typing in a tweet like:

I recommend @EdgeVA! #FF

I personally like to see reasons for follows rather than large lists, however there are some VAs that I admire (many on this forum) that make lists that I scan every time they post a new one.

More on Twitter via Mashable. (I recommend following btw)

Thanks a heap, Crystal!! I'll check out the link. Even though I've been aware of a lot of these online venues, I feel like I've lived in the dark ages for a long time.

Thanks for explaining what #ff is! I had no idea, so apologies to not responding to a few peoples #ff's. I'll sort it out soon!
