Default Be Sure to Update Your Profiles! Sharing a Lesson I Learned
I made a mistake and I wanted to share this with everyone to prevent this blunder from ever happening to you.

I opened up a Biznik account two years ago and totally forgot about it. The only info I input was my name so it was a useless connection.

Recently, I received a notice for a discussion regarding social networking in my Inbox from Biznik as I am on their notification list so I decided to click on it and join the discussion. I made a comment that apparently resonated with another poster who thought my comment was interesting. However, in turn this poster also commented on my lack of having a completed profile.

Needless to say, I rushed back to the profile and updated it with my photo and information so the situation would not occur again.

The actual thread was about the importance of social networking and having all the links in place. So although I made a good comment to the discussion, I was not 'walking the talk'.

The lesson is...make sure your profiles are up-to-date before you post to any discussion boards. Take a few minutes to review your profiles on the varying sites such as LinkedIn, Biznik, Twitter, VirtualAssistantville, etc. It is so easy to just sign up and then not go back in and fill in the information.

You never know when it will come back to haunt you. This fella's post is permanently on the board with my profile attached.

I certainly won't make that mistake again.

Janine

Hmmm, never thought of this, I belong to a lot of online networking groups and I get their emails daily in my Inbox. I also belong to Biznik. I have to check now what I have in my profile. Thanks Janine!

Thanks Janine. Good tip! I also need to cut down on how many accounts I do have. At least I can monitor them better when it is at a manageable capacity.

Great reminder Janine and I like you signed up for many before I learned that I only could manage reasonably a few. I was on Twitter long before it became popular at the request of someone I worked with 3 years ago. I would have completely forgotten about it had Twitter not become so popular.
