So there are rumors going around that the Suggest to Friends feature on fanpages is going away. There have been a ton of complaints on the boards for at least the last 2 months that it doesn't always work. I've seen it intermittent as well...where you click on the link and it starts to load but all you get is a gray bar. More recent posts say that the link is completely gone off their facebook page.

So what have any of you heard about this? Some say that facebook is planning to start charging for us to be able to ask our friends to like our page.

There are also a lot of rumors that the ability to have a landing page is going away. That we won't be able to select it any longer and that people will always just land on the info page.

Guess if any of this happens we'll just find work arounds like we always do until they "fix" something else. LOL ut:

Interesting, I hadn't heard that. There is still the 'share' link at the bottom of the page, I still have it on all my pages, but it is gone from pages which I am a fan of, but not an admin.


One place to check for information on Facebook is: http://www.facebook.com/FacebookPages and also Mashable, they seem to ferret out the rumours and let us know what is going on.

Mashable is one of my primary resources for information and I spent about 3 hours last night researching there and several other resources I use. And the boards I was referring to in my post are the facebook boards (I should have clarified that). In fact, that's where the rumors and discontent have been flying for about 2 months. There are no answers there. Everyone is so frustrated and facebook's known issues pages don't address it. There are however plenty of people who are willing to sell you their apps as work arounds!

I also asked my friend, Ryan Deiss, who is an expert I follow and he's heard the rumors but is trying to get solid information as well.

However, many of the folks here sometimes seem to end up with insider information through their many contacts. I'm hoping to tap into "the underground." LOL...

I've heard the same thing, and I am inthe same boat as you. I can't find any solid information on it.

Honestly I have heard a lot of complaints lately with facebook with companies and standard users. I personally feel as if users at this point are using it because they feel kind of stuck with it, they have built contacts and connections with it and they don't want to lose that. It makes me wonder when facebook is just going to become the next "myspace" and the public will move on to the next big thing. But who knows, I'm only speculating.

I wonder that as well. I have invested a lot of time & some money and just finally started using it as it was meant to be used...saw fast results...only to now have it shut down on me. Oh well...we do have to be flexible in this business.

Yeah sure! Over the weekend the "suggest to friends" feature started working again. Go figure! I jumped on that quick and got all my invites to all my new friends that I had accumulated before it goes down again. LOL.

I think this is one reason that Facebook keeps changing. They have this vision of being THE social networking hub for the world and they will continue to add features on our account pages. I don't think it will be one of those has been sites. Even MySpace is changing, but it is targeting the entertainment aspect of their platform - which is annoying. Plus with MySpace, I am not fond of the fact that you can't hide your profile. I have gotten a lot of people trying to friend me on there lately and it is annoying because I don't particularly want television shows and movies trying to friend me.
